100 day survey of the Tanote Bay Reef Ball Project

Written by: System Administrator

We help to maintain a 146 reef ball artificial house reef laid down by the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources in 2010

100 days after transplanting coral fragments from the nursery to the concrete reef balls, a team of instructors and guests photographed and surveyed 23 corals

Early indications are very encouraging, the corals have grown an average 2cm in 100 days, with one branching coral increasing it's height by 6cm!

There is also anecdotal evidence of an big increase in fish activity in the local area, so a big thankyou to the DMCR!
